Astronaut
A person trained to travel and work in space.
Capsule
A part of a spacecraft that can hold a crew and instruments.
Dock
To join with another vehicle in space.
Earth
The third planet from the Sun and the only place in the universe known to harbor life.
international space station
A laboratory that orbits Earth, where people live and work.
To send something on its way, such as when a rocket's engines are ignited to send it from Earth into space.
Launch
The path followed by a moon, planet or artificial satellite as it travels around another body in space.
Orbit
The load carried by an aircraft or spacecraft consisting of things necessary to the purpose of the flight.
Payload
Module
A self-contained unit of a spacecraft.
Robotic Arm
A mechanical arm designed for grabbing, holding and moving objects.
Rocket
A vehicle used to launch people and objects into space.
Star
A huge ball of very hot, glowing gas that gives off both heat and light.
